How to get the early game beast, Rhino Warframe

So, you’ve chosen your starter frame, levelled it up a bit, had a dabble in some different weapons, now you want to get into the meat of Warframe.

The grind.

But how do you go about doing that? You feel so squishy against enemies.

Well fear not, it just so happens that arguably one of the best non prime warframes is found right at the beginning of your space ninja journey, read on to find how to build your own Rhino warframe.

Who is Rhino?

Rhino is one of the first Warframes you’ll be able to get as a new player, does this make him a bad frame?

Absolutely not, Rhino prime is a great frame even into the endgame and as far as base Warframes go, Rhino is a staple in many players arsenals. His 2nd ability “Iron Skin” 100% negates a set amount of damage and his 3rd grants a damage buff to himself and allies in range.

The Rhino Warframe parts farm:

Alrighty, to farm Rhino parts, you’ll want to head on over to Fossa, Venus. Its an assassination where you’ll get to meet a boss known as the Jackal. Kill it and extract to be rewarded a random part. Keep doing this until you have all three parts. Unfortunately, you can only get one piece per run and need all three plus the blueprint to be able to build Rhino.

Drop chances:

  • Chassis blueprint – 38.72%
  • Neuroptics Blueprint – 38.72%
  • Systems blueprint – 22.56%

The main blueprint you can buy in the market for credits.

Once you’ve received a piece, you can build it in the foundry if you have the materials, but this shouldn’t be too much of an issue.

In total you’ll need:

Each piece will take 12 hours to build and you can leave multiple building at the same time.

After all the pieces have been built, you can start building the frame, this’ll take a whopping 72 hours to finish. I promise you though, if you have other weapons and Warframes to level, it’ll be waiting for you before you know it.

Then as long as you have a free Warframe slot, you can claim your stompy boi Rhino Warframe and voila.

Rhino Warframe Abilities breakdown:

Passive:

“Emit a shockwave dealing 100 damage after landing from a great height”

To be honest, this description doesn’t tell us much, to find out some actual numbers I had to dig into the warframe Wiki

Here we can see that “great height” means any height you can fall from where you’ll have a “velocity of over 20 m/s” at the time of landing. In other words, any height where your Warframe would be staggered after a fall.

We can also see the shockwave affects a 6 metre radius and can cause knockdowns on enemies it hits. While this does sound useful, I would argue outside of very few exceptions, if your build relies on knockdowns then it has other issues.

Overall, I don’t think this passive is the best, its more useful in the early game but once enemy health starts scaling, its pretty much useless

Ability 1 – Rhino Charge:

Not my favourite ability of his. Rhino charge allows you press 1 to zoom past enemies, dealing 650 impact damage to every enemy within 2 metres for up to 12 metres at max rank. Also causes enemies hit to ragdoll, useful if you need to get out of a rather compromising situation.

My favourite parts of Rhino charge however, are that while charging, you are immune to damage and you can spam the ability to chain charges and build up a combo that deals more damage to enemies. Spamming also increases the distance travelled and reduces energy cost.

Ability 2 – Iron Skin:

One of Rhino’s most well known abilities. Iron skin will completely absorb a certain amount of damage and makes you immune to knockdowns and staggers when its fully active.

Iron skin can scale off of both Warframe armour and Warframe ability strength to increase the amount of damage it can negate.

It also provides invulnerability for up to 3 seconds after casting. During this time, any damage you take will instead be added into the Iron skin buff.

Ability 3 – Roar:

Arguably the most useful ability in Rhino’s kit. Activating it will give you and every ally in range a 50% damage boost to weapons and the best part, abilities too. This 50% scales with strength, duration, and range as you’d expect.

Ability 4 – Rhino Stomp:

Activating this ability will make Rhino stomp the ground and fling enemies within 25m into the air and apply a 97.5% slow for 8 seconds to them at max rank. Also deals a respectable 800 blast damage at max rank.

Rhino charge also deals double damage to enemies affected by Rhino Stomp.
